That's me in 2018 on the day I made the first flight in that 1959 Piper PA-18A Super Cub after I had spent over a year restoring it for a customer. It flew great, btw.

In the years prior, I had been stuck doing ceramic tile installing, and built a lot of custom showers which I was quite good at, but didn't enjoy doing. I liked being self-employed, and was thankful for the work I had, but something about that work was sucking the life out of me. The opportunity to restore the Super Cub not only showed me how much I enjoyed self-employed vintage aircraft restoration, but it showed me I was pretty good at this too.

As it turned out, I had to go back to tile installing for another 7 years until I finally found another aircraft restoration opportunity, which I am currently in progress with as I launch Martt.me in October 2025. As the shirts says: Life Is Good.

In September 2025 I deleted all of my Facebook accounts after deciding that Meta and Mark are enemies of humanity. That wasn't a new revelation, but it had all reached the point that I couldn't continue to be connected to something that I believed was really bad for humanity.

The transition to life without Facebook has been easier than I expected, and the increase in my daily productivity is easy to see. But, I always have a lot to say... I'm not a normal guy in that I'm a real talker, and I'd like to think that I'm a real thinker too. I needed somewhere sane to speak my mind.

So I decided to create my own little personal place on the interwebs where I wasn't inundated with someone else's idea of how the world works, and where I could speak anything and everything without being suppressed by the Meta algorithm. Of course I won't be free from the manipulative affects of a counter-algorithm, but I think this is a step in the right direction.

Let's see how it goes...
